The Town of Burton will continue discussions on the town’s water system at a special council workshop Tuesday.

Council members will meet with the city’s financial advisors and bonding attorneys regarding financing options for the planned new water well. The board hopes to reach a general consensus on funding to move the project forward, although no formal action will be taken.

In Septembercouncil decided to drill the new well near the current one at Burton Town Hall. The city received $593,800 in grants through the Texas General Land Office’s Community Development Block Grant mitigation program. However, the total cost of the project, as discussed at that September meeting, could reach a minimum of around $1.5 million.

The council will meet Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Burton Town Hall.
