Reliance Retail signs consumer safety pledge with government on National Consumer Day

Reliance Retail, a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd. signed the consumer safety pledge on the occasion of National Consumer Day, thus showing its support for an initiative led by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs and Food and public distribution, Government of India.

The commitment aims to strengthen safety measures and ensure compliance with product safety standards in India. The signing ceremony, held in New Delhi, was attended by Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, State Minister BL Verma and Department Secretary Nidhi Khare.

Reliance Retail President and Chief Public Policy and Regulatory Officer Ravi Gandhi formalized the commitment on behalf of the company.

As part of this commitment, Reliance Retail is committed to detecting and preventing unsafe products, working with regulatory authorities, educating sellers on safety responsibilities, and empowering consumers to report violations security.

India’s largest retail conglomerate signed the pledge on behalf of Reliance Retail, comprising platforms such as JioMart, AJIO, Reliance.

BL Verma welcomed the collaboration, calling it “a step forward in creating a safer consumer ecosystem”. He also recognized the efforts of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs to protect the interests of consumers.

Reliance Retail highlighted its plans to use AI-based tools to monitor product safety and work with enforcement agencies such as the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) to address concerns.

National Consumer Day, celebrated on December 24, serves as a reminder of the critical importance of consumer rights and responsibilities in India.

Shares of Reliance Industries closed at ₹1,224.20 on the BSE today, up ₹1.90 or 0.16 per cent.
