Details: He noted that “at Ukraine’s urgent request” the OSCE would discuss Russia’s increasing use of intermediate-range ballistic missiles in its aggression against Ukraine at a special joint Council meeting Permanent Representative and the Forum for Security Cooperation.

Quote: “Russia represents the greatest security threat in the OSCE region. Its unacceptable actions demonstrate that only Moscow seeks to expand the war. They must be condemned and stopped. We will use all international platforms and mechanisms to increase global pressure on the aggressor.

The OSCE remains one of the few pan-European organizations of which Russia remains a member. However, because the organization requires consensus for all decisions, Moscow continues to block any resolutions it opposes.

Background:

  • Earlier, reports noted that due to Russia’s first use of an experimental ballistic missile, which the Russians have named Oreshnik, a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council will take place on November 26.

  • Sybiha earlier stressed that kyiv hoped for “concrete and significant results” after the NATO-Ukraine Council.

  • At the same time, Olha Stefanishyna, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration, noted that the meeting would focus on support for Ukraine in general.
