Expect high fire danger in southeast Michigan through early Tuesday morning

A National Weather Service report was issued Monday at 3:46 p.m. EDT for high fire danger through 4:30 a.m. EDT Tuesday for Cass, St. Joseph, Branch, Hillsdale and Berrien counties.

The weather service adds: “The combination of unseasonably warm temperatures and gusty southwest winds will result in an elevated fire danger this afternoon and early evening as brush, grass and unharvested fields continue to dry. »

“Fires that ignite can spread quickly and become very difficult to control, especially in areas of grass, brush and unharvested fields,” the weather service explains.
