Former Golden Knights defenseman returns to Vegas

Former Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Daniil Miromanov makes his return to Vegas tonight as the Calgary Flames come to town.

Miromanov signed a one-year entry-level contract with the Golden Knights in 2021 after scoring ten goals and 29 points in 58 games with HK Sochi in the KHL during the 2020-21 campaign.

During his tenure with the Golden Knights, the 27-year-old played in 56 NHL games, recording five goals and 15 points. He also played 95 games for the Henderson Silver Knights, scoring 21 goals and 47 points.

The Golden Knights believed in Miromanov as a player and extended him to a two-year contract during the 2022 offseason. The decision to trade him was what was best for his career and the Golden Knights Knights. The team had a logjam of defenders, particularly right-handed defenders, and the move to the Flames allowed him to play in the first four minutes.

“I was so grateful and so lucky to come to Vegas and develop so much,” Miromanov said.

To start the 2024-25 campaign, Miromanov has played in all seven games recording one assist in 17:50. At 6’4 and 207 pounds, Miromanov has all the physical tools to be a reliable defenseman in the NHL and he just needed the opportunity to do it. With the Flames, he has this opportunity and he is flourishing.

The Moscow, Russia native played against the Golden Knights during the 2023-24 season, but tonight’s game will be his first chance to play in Vegas as an opponent. He spoke to the media about the opportunity to play in Vegas.

“It’s just about preparing from the first minute of the match,” Miromanov said. “Following the structure and following the team plan is the most important thing. When we lose, it’s when we deviate from our game plan.

Players should keep in mind that this is just another match, but that they all aspire to play well against old teams.
