247Sports’ Tom Loy talks about the end of the 2025 class

In the first two installments of this series, 247Sports national recruiting analyst Tom Loy provided an in-depth analysis of Notre Dame’s current recruiting class. Given his background in Fighting Irish athletics, it was interesting to hear his perspective on the potential of this class.

As it stands, Notre Dame is building a strong class for 2025. However, several key recruits remain on the board. A strong finish to the season, especially with a berth in the first 12-team playoffs, could significantly improve their chances of landing these top prospects.

After the second bye week, the Irish are set to host a major recruiting weekend against rival Florida State. This match could mark the start of an exciting ending for the class.

While Loy didn’t delve into predictions regarding the final additions to the 2025 class, he detailed many of the remaining targets and offered realistic expectations for each player discussed.

Jalen Wiggins – Defensive Line (Florida Commit)

Notre Dame has long been considered a dark horse for the Tallahassee native and the Gators, but it’s been a waiting game to see if they can bring him to campus for a visit. That changes next week, when the Irish are expected to host Wiggins for the game against Florida State.

Wiggins would be a major coup for Notre Dame. He is a four-star recruit on all major recruiting platforms, with ESPN ranking him 68th nationally, while On3 has him in the Top 100 at 95th.

Tom’s thoughts:Flipping a guy like Jalen Wiggins, a Top247 defensive lineman, from Florida would be ideal. However, this will by no means be easy. Getting him on campus for the Florida State game is a win“.

The Irish coaching staff has its work cut out for it, but they will soon have their shot at the consensus four-star.

Two uncommitted linebackers

IMG Academy four-star linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng and J Serra Catholic four-star linebacker Madden Faraimo are both long-time targets for Notre Dame. Owusu-Boateng is the brother of former Irishman Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, while Faraimo comes from a Southern California Catholic school football conference that Notre Dame actively recruits from.

Faraimo also draws comparisons to current freshman star linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, which certainly benefits Notre Dame given their backgrounds, playing styles and shared high school football conference.

Don’t be shocked if Notre Dame succeeds here and Loy echoes these sentiments:

Notre Dame would love to pair Top247 linebackers Madden Faraimo and Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng. Seriously, it wouldn’t shock me if they both ended up choosing the Fighting Irish.“.

Owusu-Boateng collected a wide range of recruiting evaluations. Rivals ranks him as a five-star prospect at No. 19 nationally, while ESPN has him at No. 80. Recently, 247Sports had him listed at No. 158, and On3 does not include him in their On300 but still lists him as a five-star prospect. four stars. Regardless, he is an exceptional athlete.

Ratings of Faraimo are more consistent, with three media outlets ranking him between 57th and 93rd nationally. On3 is the only media outlet to place him outside the top 100, ranking him at 130th.

Offensive Skill Position Targets

The Irish are actively looking for more offensive weapons for the class of 2025. They are looking for several receivers and are still looking for other weapons, including a new name that recently emerged. The coaching staff is also considering adding a sophomore tight end and running back to the class.

Three-star wide receiver and Arizona commit Isaiah Mizell recently visited Notre Dame for a game. Four-star Michigan tight end commit Andrew Olesh is expected to be on campus next week, and four-star LSU wide receiver commit Derek Meadows could also attend that game, as well as four-star LSU wide receiver commit ‘Oklahoma, Emmanuel Choice.

Loy shared his thoughts on various remaining targets.

On Mizell: “The staff is still recruiting three-star Arizona receiver Isaiah Mizell. I would really like this pickup for the Irish, but he made it clear to the Wildcats that he is honoring his commitment. I wouldn’t say this one is finished, not at all“.

Your choice: “Notre Dame offered and conversations went well. A visit in preparation for the Florida State game, but plans are not finalized. Bring him to campus and a turnaround is possible. From here there, it’s just a name they talk about.“.

On Olesh: “Notre Dame makes a run at Michigan tight end Andrew Olesh. The staff thinks he has an opportunity there and can act. He was receptive. Some ties to UM might make things difficult, but they have a chance“.

Don’t read too much into the lack of commentary on Meadows. The Irish were heavily involved in his recruitment before he committed to LSU. If he visits campus for the Florida State game, that would be a significant development. Concerning the recruitment of running backs, the Irish staff kept the information secret. Until there is progress with a specific recruit, there is no point in discussing potential names.
