Issues such as banning any organization or agency were not discussed in the advisory council meeting, said Syeda Rizwana Hasan, advisor on environment, forests, climate change and water resources.

She made the remarks in response to a question from journalists regarding the banning of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon), during a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital today ( November 28).

“A person has been arrested on specific charges. Legal proceedings are underway in this regard. The arrested person may or may not be charged; the court will look into the matter,” the advisor added.

Commenting on the upcoming national elections, she said the elections would be held after necessary reforms.

“Six reform commissions have been given until December to submit their recommendations. Some have said it could take another one to two weeks. Reform commissions are involved in the electoral process,” she added.

Rizwana said public opinion will be sought after the commission’s recommendations, based on which a final recommendation will be made, and action will be taken accordingly.

“After completing the reforms as quickly as possible, we will move towards the elections. The main task of launching the elections is the formation of the Election Commission,” the advisor added.

At the press conference, regarding the senior advisor’s meetings with the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, Advisor Mahfuz Alam said they advised concerted efforts to protect the sovereignty of the country and for the good of the country. national interest. “Both parties have made positive proposals.”
