The eight-year-old is officially missing three months this weekend and the authorities are I’m still trying to establish what happened to him after encountering a wall of silence.

A source told The Irish Sun: “There is more than one suspect here and we hope to arrest a number of people if and when a body is found.

“We expect to encounter cases of murder, manslaughter, conspiracy to murder and concealment of information. We gather the evidence and put our ducks in a row for now. Our investigation is very lively and active.

“It may seem slow, but the public needs to be reassured that we are involved in this matter.”

Detectives still believe Kyran was murderedbut I have not yet established how and when he died.

He was reported missing with his mother Dayla, 24, on August 30 by an individual who said they were last seen together at a house in Drogheda, Co Louth two days ago.

Around the same time, Tusla, the child protection agency, also reported the disappearance of the little boy from the Gardai.

An eagle-eyed social worker realized the young boy brought to a meeting with child welfare officials was not Kyran and raised the alarm.

During September, as Gardai began their initial inquiries, it is understood that a person came forward and told cops they thought the child was dead.

The more people Gardai questioned, the more they discovered that no one had actually seen the child for almost two years.

In October, Gardai launched an in-depth murder investigation.

They quickly established that the little boy was last seen alive in public at a Dundalk school in late May 2022.

The family lived in a rented house nearby, and the primary school Kyran attended was informed he was leaving because the family was moving across the border to Newry.

Soon detectives found Kyran’s motherwho has two other children, and discovered she was living with friends in Ipswich, England.

PROBLE “ALIVE AND CURRENT”

She told Suffolk Police that she had fled the country because she feared for her own safety, but had also no idea where his son was.

Gardai say their investigation is “live and ongoing”.

A Garda source said: “This is a very difficult and complicated case. We try to gather as much evidence as possible before making arrests.

“There are a number of suspects involved here, but we are not going to act too soon in case we jeopardize future prosecutions.

“CODE OF SILENCE”

“A handful of people know exactly what happened to this little boy and there is no doubt that he is dead and is not coming back.

“But so far there is a code of silence, for some reason, and none of them are speaking.

“We have received a huge amount of information from the public and are investigating every new lead.

“At the moment we know that a child is missing, presumed murdered, but we do not have a body.

HOPE OF BREAKTHROUGH

“We ask the public to be patient, but we hope to achieve a breakthrough as soon as possible. »

An extensive Garda search of the former family home in Dundalk found little or nothing.

Officers searched the rear of the terraced house and a nearby vacant lot, but there was no trace of the child’s remains.

Gardai said there would be more searches and searches to try and find Kyran. The public will be informed before moving in. The next searches are likely to take place in the Drogheda area.

“WE GET JUSTICE”

The Garda source added: “One of the problems with this case was that the family were listed as homeless and moved around a lot.

“We are trying to find out everything we can about Kyran’s short life to help us solve this case.

“But we will find out what happened to him and where he is buried. We will obtain justice and a proper burial for the little man.

In a statement last month, Gardai said: “Do not exclude any information you may have.

“Any information, no matter how insignificant, will be welcomed by the investigation team. This information will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.

“You can contact the Garda Investigation Team at Drogheda Garda Station on 041 987 4200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or speak with any member of An Garda Siochana.”
