Child dies, others injured after car crash at Melbourne primary school

An 11-year-old boy has died after a woman picking up her son from an Australian primary school crashed through a fence and crashed into a group of children.

The boy died after being seriously injured in the crash at Auburn South Primary School in Hawthorn East around 2.30pm on Tuesday. Victoria The police confirmed.

Two 11-year-old girls, a 10-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy were also seriously injured. They were all taken to hospital.

The 40-year-old driver of the car was arrested and will be questioned by police.

Inspector Craig McEvoy said after going to the school to collect her child, the woman turned around and collided with the fence.
