The tour will mark the American thrash metal veterans’ first local shows in over a decade, following their appearance at the front -last Soundwave festival in 2014. also mark their first headlining tour since 2010. In the decade since Testament’s last release in Australia, the band has released two more studio albums. Their 12th, Brotherhood of the Serpentwas released in 2016. Its follow-up, Titans of Creationfollowed in 2020. In July 2024, it was reported that the group was working on a new W studio album – which will potentially be released around the time of Testament’s return home.

“We’re hoping to have a single… towards the end of the year,” Chuck Billy, the band’s longtime lead singer, said in an interview on US radio station 107.7 The Bone. “The results are very aggressive. We have a new drummer, Chris Dovas, who really sets Eric (Peterson, guitarist) on fire and has really, really heavy, fast (drums). I get excited before mixing, because I just know that every song is a step up from the last album, as far as aggression goes.
