Yoga can help you stay active during the winter months.

As the winter season approaches, it is indeed difficult to get out of cozy blankets and exercise. This is also the time when we most often feel sluggish and tired, making it difficult to stay alert. However, if you suffer from lethargy and are looking for ways to stay energetic during the winter months, yoga is an ideal option. Although there are many difficult poses, you can always start with a few easier poses.

Plank pose

To perform this pose, start in a tabletop position with your wrists under your shoulders and your knees under your hips. Pull your belly button toward your spine to engage your core muscles. Make sure your toes are tucked underneath, forming a straight line from head to heels. Keep your elbows slightly bent, but don’t lock them. Maintain a position parallel to the ground, making sure your hips and shoulders are aligned and not sagging or rising.

Chair pose

Stand with your feet hip-width apart. Inhale deeply as you raise your arms, palms facing each other. Exhale, bend your knees and lower your hips as if you were sitting in an imaginary chair. Keep your spine straight and use your core muscles. Make sure your knees are directly above your ankles, transferring your weight evenly between your feet.

Goddess pose

Start in a standing position with your feet wide apart and your toes pointed outward. Inhale deeply while extending your arms toward the ceiling. Hold your legs in a squat position and keep your spine straight. Make sure your knees are directly above your ankles, with your thighs parallel to the floor.

Benefits of Doing Yoga During Winters

Improves immunity

Regular yoga can help the body defend itself against seasonal illnesses like cold. It also stimulates the circulation of lymphatic fluid, which carries immune cells throughout the body.

Relieves stiffness

Yoga can deal with the stiffness and joint pain that comes with the winter season. It improves flexibility and relieves tension, thus reducing winter-related pain.

Increases energy

Popular yoga asanas and breathing exercises relieve winter fatigue and increase energy levels. They rejuvenate the body, keeping you active and invigorated during the colder months.
