How to Freeze Pasta

The best way to freeze pasta depends on whether it’s fresh and uncooked or already cooked, Edwards says.

  • Fresh pasta: If you are freezing fresh pasta, you may want to let it sit separately for about 15 minutes to allow it to dry out just a little so the noodles don’t stick together.
  • Cooked pasta: If you freeze cooked pasta, you need to make sure it has cooled completely. Then toss it in a little olive oil to prevent the noodles from sticking together.

Be sure to place the pasta in a resealable plastic freezer bag or airtight container that is clearly labeled and dated.
