Cool weekend with even colder temperatures on the way

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Temperatures are dropping this weekend as a wave of arctic weather heads our way.

TODAY

Frost warnings are in effect Saturday morning as much of the region experiences its first frost of the season. The skies will return on Saturday, but it will take us a long time to warm up. Afternoon highs only reach 50° on Saturday.

THIS EVENING

For those heading to Winter Wonderland at the beach, jackets will be necessary. Temperatures will be in the 40s with clear skies and these nighttime lows will continue to drop into the 30s and 20s.

TOMORROW

Freeze warnings are expected to return tonight through Sunday morning. Temperatures will be in the low 30s in the Grand Strand and in the 20s inland. We will continue to stay cool tomorrow with highs in the 50s with mostly sunny skies.

ARCTIC AIR IS COMING

A dry cold front will move in Sunday evening into Monday morning. We won’t see any rain from this system, but it will bring much cooler weather. Highs for Monday and Tuesday will remain in the 40s in our area with even colder lows overnight. We could see temperatures drop into the 20s in the Grand Strand and into the upper teens for our inland areas Monday and Tuesday night.

REST OF NEXT WEEK

Temperatures will slowly return to normal on Thursday with highs in the 60s, but this will be short-lived. Another dry cold front will move in Friday, bringing our high back into the 50s through next weekend. Besides the cooler weather, we will have a rain-free forecast for the next seven days!
