FTISLAND’s Minhwan to Go on Hiatus Amid Solicitation of Prostitution Controversy; group to promote as 2 members

FTISLAND member Minhwan was recently embroiled in controversy regarding soliciting prostitutes. Due to the ongoing investigation, the group released an official statement stating that they will continue as a duo until the matter is resolved. Minhwan will take a break and refrain from getting involved in the group.

On October 29, 2024, FTISLAND’s agency FNC Entertainment announced that the group would perform and promote as a two-member group. The company said that after extensive discussions regarding the group’s future activities, it made the decision to temporarily continue with two members, Lee Hong Ki and Lee Jae Jin.

From their scheduled activities, a session musician will take over. The organizers of the Grand Mint Festival 2024 have announced that after careful consideration, it has been decided that FTISLAND will perform on November 2, 2024, with a replacement drummer in place of Choi Minhwan. With Lee Hong Ki and Lee Jae Jin well prepared, the group should perform without any problems.

Additionally, Minhwan’s footage from the variety show Superman Returns was also removed amid his ongoing controversy over soliciting prostitutes. Earlier this week, on October 24 KST, Choi Minhwan’s ex-wife Yulhee made a public confession that attracted a lot of attention. According to Yulhee, one of the main reasons for the former couple’s divorce was Minhwan’s repeated visits to adult entertainment establishments.

Yulhee divulged details of Minhwan’s alleged behavior, revealing an audio recording of a phone conversation between him and an acquaintance. The recording apparently indicates that Minhwan intended to go to a hostess bar without Yulhee’s knowledge, which contributed to the tension in their marriage.

Following this revelation, Minhwan’s actions attracted the attention of law enforcement. The Seoul Gangnam Police Department has taken up the case and Minhwan will soon be officially investigated on suspicion of engaging in illicit activities, including soliciting prostitution. Further developments are expected as the investigation progresses.
