The founder of the Gono Forum and its Chairman Emeritus, Dr. Kamal Hossain, today (November 30) urged the political parties and people of the country to extend their full cooperation to the caretaker government and grant it reasonable time to implement implements the necessary state reforms.

“It is the moral responsibility of all political parties and citizens to extend their full cooperation to the current interim government and grant it reasonable time to carry out reforms,” he said while addressing at the 7th National Council of the Gono Forum at the Institution. engineers, Bangladesh.

Dr Kamal said the democratic institutions in the state have become almost dysfunctional due to blatant politicization over the last 16 years.

He said an interim government, led by Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus, had been established with the aim of reforming these institutions and creating an environment conducive to fair elections.

He said a national consensus had been forged to support the caretaker government in achieving the desired goals and effectively implementing the necessary reforms. “This consensus must be maintained until the end. To achieve this, I believe that a national dialogue involving all democratic political parties, individuals and civil society is essential.”

Dr. Kamal also said that the students and common masses have once again demonstrated that this country belongs to its people and not to a dictator.

He called on the population to move forward and contribute to the construction of a humane Bangladesh, without discrimination, in accordance with the spirit of the great liberation war of 1971 and the student movement of 2024. “Let us unite in struggle to build a new nation.

Dr Kamal said the Gono Forum had never compromised its principles in its 31-year political journey.

In the current circumstances, he expressed hope that the leaders and workers of the Gono Forum would embark on a new journey, overcoming divisions and misunderstandings within the party, through its national council.

Previously, Shahidul Islam Bhuiyan, the father of Mohammad Farhanul Islam Bhuiyan, who was tragically killed during the July-August movement, inaugurated the Gono Forum council.

During the council, the new central committee of the Gono Forum was formed, with Dr Kamal Hossain as chairman emeritus, Mostafa Mohsin Montu as chairman and Dr Mizanur Rahman as general secretary.
