The United States women’s national team concludes its three-game October international window Wednesday against Argentina in Louisville.

Emma Hayes’ side recorded back-to-back 3-1 wins over Iceland last week, extending their winning streak to eight matches.

Wednesday marks the final USWNT home game of 2024 for the Olympic champions.

The Americans finish their 2024 slate with a trip to Europe to face England and the Netherlands in late November and early December.

In Wednesday’s clash against Argentina, the focus will be on putting right many things that went wrong under Hayes and starting a new shutout streak after two straight games with a concession for second times only this year.

Date: Wednesday October 30

The October international window went as well as the Americans hoped.

They scored three goals in each victory against Iceland and, in doing so, Hayes provided some international debuts for a handful of new players called up this month.

You could say the only negative is conceding a goal in every match against Iceland.

The USWNT entered October with a three-game shutout streak and 12 total clean sheets in 2024.

One of those shutouts came against Argentina in the Concacaf Gold Cup in February. The Americans won this meeting 4-0.

The USWNT has controlled all three of its matches against South American opponents in 2024. It has dominated Argentina, Colombia and Brazil by an 8-0 margin, a stat that matches the program’s history against teams of this continent.

The Americans have won 20 of their last 21 matches against CONMEBOL opponents, according to US Soccer.

Greater squad rotation is expected from Hayes to keep his players fresh at the end of a rare three-game friendly series in a week.

Sophia Smith and Lynn Williams will likely return to their starting roles after appearing as substitutes on Saturday. The same goes for Rose Lavelle in midfield after her night off. Lindsey Horan only played half Saturday, so she could also start early at Louisville.

Wednesday’s game may have the most meaning for forward Emma Sears, who is the only USWNT player for Racing Louisville of the NWSL. Sears scored in his first international appearance on Saturday and should get some minutes in front of his home crowd on Wednesday.

Argentina fell short of the high standard of the world’s best teams in 2024. They lost to Brazil 5-1 to go along with their 4-0 loss to the USWNT.

Argentina are the 33rd team in the FIFA women’s rankings, 32 places behind the Americans, who are expected to claim another multi-goal victory during this stretch of October friendlies.

Prediction: USWNT 3, Argentina 0
