  • College Football Playoff rankings revealed, Tuesday at 7 p.m., ESPN

Indiana football is safe in the College Football Playoffs. Where is it?

THE Hoosiers (11-1) did its job in the Old Oaken Bucket game, delivering all kinds of style points to dismantle Purdue 66-0. A loss at Miami helped their cause, but Ohio State’s home loss to Michigan didn’t do them any favors.

If IU is 11th or 12th in the final rankings, it could be excluded. The top four seeds will go to the conference champions, even if those teams are not seeded in the top 12. It is possible that the Big 12, ACC and/or top Group of Five conference champions will not be not in the top 12, which could potentially push Indiana down the list.

The final CFP rankings will be released at noon ET on December 8.

Teams #5 through 8 in the final CFP rankings welcome teams #9 through 12 to campus the weekend before Christmas.

Projecting Indiana Football CFP Rankings

Heather Dinich, ESPN: 9th

“The Hoosiers are in the playoffs as the fourth team in the Big Ten behind Oregon, Penn State and Ohio State, but they may not be ranked high enough to win a home game in the first round. That could change if Clemson beat SMU, which would give the Hoosiers a last-minute boost.

Matt Hayes, USA TODAY: 12th

“Who among us believes Indiana beats South Carolina?”

Austin Mock, Athletics: 8th

Indiana has a 99% chance of making the playoffs.

Ari Wasserman, On3: 9th

“Indiana was embarrassed at Ohio State last weekend, and it called into question the Hoosiers’ bid for the College Football Playoff. But given that chaos has completely broken out in the sport, Indiana responded to the humiliating loss to the Buckeyes with a blowout victory against the Purdue Buckeyes, it seems very clear that the Hoosiers are going to rank among the 12 teams You can poke holes in Indiana’s resume, but. They’re a very good football team that can sneak up on someone in the playoffs.”

Thomas Goldkamp, On3: 9th (in national polls, not CFP)

“Indiana had the luxury of facing one of the worst teams in the Power Conference in the regular season finale, and the Hoosiers made sure to take full advantage from the start. It was 28-0 at halftime, with Indiana racking up over 300 yards of total offense in the first half. The Hoosiers remain in good shape to earn a spot in the College Football Playoff, but probably need to. at least worry a bit of a bid stealer in the conference title games.

Chip Patterson, CBS Sports: 9th (in national polls, not CFP)

“All the frustrations from Ohio State’s loss were mercilessly taken out on rival Purdue as the Hoosiers poured it out for four quarters for a 66-0 victory.”

Joel Klatt, Fox Sports: IU is here
