Roc Nation’s Social Justice Division Launches Podcast Examining Misconduct in the Criminal Justice System

Team Roc, the social justice division of Roc Nation, announced the launch of a new true crime podcast called “Corruption Uncovered” that will investigate and examine malpractice and systemic failures within the criminal justice system in Kansas City, Kansas. The inaugural episode of the weekly series will be available on December 6.

According to the announcement, “Corruption Uncovered” will explore the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department’s long-standing corruption allegations and coincide with the trial of former KCKPD Detective Roger Golubski, who faces federal abuse charges. of its power of extortion and rape. Black women and adolescents. His trial is part of a larger investigation into the KCKPD and its impact on the community.

Team Roc recently sued KCKPD alleging an “unjustified failure” to produce records involving alleged police “abuse and misconduct” over several decades.

The podcast series will analyze Golubski’s trial and feature interviews and commentary from survivors, affected families, community members, attorneys, national and local activists to provide context.

“There is a need for powerful and comprehensive storytelling in the criminal justice sector so that the voices of those who have been silenced are heard,” said Team Roc Executive Director Dania Diaz. “Our hope is that Corruption Uncovered not only achieves this goal, but also serves as an investigative platform that will expose misconduct, demand accountability, and spark change from the people and systems that owe it to protect citizens and the community. »

“Corruption Uncovered” is hosted by journalist Josie Duffy Rice, whose work focuses primarily on prosecutors, prisons and other criminal justice issues. Her writing has been featured in The New York Times, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, The Atlantic and others.
