Cold sunshine today and widespread frost this evening

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Happy Tuesday morning everyone!

It’s a good start with the sun returning to our sky today. Once again, this sun will only warm us to a certain extent.

In fact, it will be colder today than yesterday due to another cold front passing through tonight. Highs only reach the mid 50s inland to the upper 50s on the coast and with a slightly breezy north wind also adding to the cold.

If you plan to go to the Christmas Tree Lighting and Concert in Lynn Haven this evening, be sure to dress warmly. We will quickly fall into the 40s as the sun sets and fall into the 40s during tonight’s festivities. Dress in layers, put on mittens and scarves, and bring a blanket to warm you up tonight.

Widespread frost is possible this evening until Wednesday morning. Inland lows this evening could reach the upper 20s, which is just north of a Severe Freeze Warning going into effect. Lows on the coast will drop to freezing temperatures in the 30s mostly just away from the beaches.

We will have a widespread frost across the Panhandle early Wednesday morning. Let’s protect sensitive plants by covering them or bringing them indoors. Bring your pets inside and check to see if your elderly friends and relatives are warm tonight.

Wednesday, highs are just getting back into the 60s. The sun returns for Wednesday with only a few clouds aloft late in the day. A milder south wind picks up Wednesday evening, bringing seasonal temperatures back to Wednesday night’s forecast in the 40s and Thursday in the upper 60s.

Our second front of the week arrives Thursday with a few passing showers and a tenth or two of an inch of rain. Colder air returns for Friday and the start of the weekend.
