Completing the release of M-Files

Molten Ventures (LSE: GROW, Euronext Dublin: GRW), a leading venture capital firm that invests in and develops high-growth digital technology companies, announces the successful completion of the exit of M-Files, following regulatory approvals.

Molten first invested in M-Files, an intelligent file management platform and leader in knowledge work automation using generative AI, in Series A in 2013. The exit generated a multiple of 7.4x on invested capital. The Group’s total achievements for the financial year have now reached £124 million (£76 million reported for the first six months), exceeding the guidance of £100 million provided at the start of the financial year.

Ben Wilkinson, CEO of Molten Ventures, commented:

“We are satisfied with the high level of achievements achieved so far during this financial year, especially as they were achieved at a value equal to or greater than the holding value, validating the quality of our portfolio and the diligent approach to our evaluation methodology. The highly successful completion of the M-Files release and other achievements have generated significant cash income which will enable us to take advantage of other attractive investment opportunities.

“While achievements have already exceeded our initial expectations for the financial year, with planned larger releases having been completed, there remains potential for further smaller releases. Our primary focus is active portfolio management and generating strong returns for investors.

About Molten Ventures

Molten Ventures is a leading venture capital firm in Europe, developing and investing in high-growth, disruptive technology companies. We infuse visionary companies with energy to help them transform and grow. This energy comes in many forms: capital, of course, but also knowledge, experience and relationships. We believe that our role is to support the entrepreneurs who will invent the future, and this future is being built today in Europe.

As of September 30, 2024, Molten Ventures had a diversified portfolio with holdings in more than 100 companies, 18 of which represent our core portfolio holdings and represent 61% of the gross portfolio value. Our main companies include Revolut, Thought Machine, Coachhub, Form3, Aiven, Ledger and Aircall. We invest in four sectors: enterprise technology, hardware and deep technology, consumer technology, and digital health and wellness, with highly experienced partners constantly seeking new opportunities in each of them. We look for high-growth companies operating in new markets, with aspirations for global expansion, strong intellectual property, powerful technology and strong management teams for success. We also look for companies with the potential to generate strong margins to ensure rapid and sustainable growth in important potential markets.

Molten Ventures offers public market investors a unique opportunity to access these fast-growing technology companies, without having to commit to long-term investments with limited liquidity. Since our IPO in June 2016, we have deployed over £1 billion of capital into fast-growing technology businesses and have completed over £600 million by 30 September 2024.
