BMG starts 24-hour drilling to extend Wiluna gold project

BMG Resources has launched a 24-hour diamond drilling campaign at its Abercromby gold project near Wiluna, Western Australia, to increase current resources by 518,000 ounces.

The drilling follows advanced preparations by BMG reported in mid-November and will probe the high-grade gold zones at Abercromby, initially seeking resource expansion through extension drilling of high-grade gold zones beyond the existing resource model.

BMG then hopes to upgrade nearly 7 million tonnes of the project’s inferred status resources to the indicated category with a higher confidence level.

The first diamond core hole is being drilled at the southern end of the Capital deposit and is expected to reach a depth of 430 m.

The resource expansion drilling phase will be followed by comprehensive infill drilling to upgrade lower resource categories and support continued development of mineral resources and reserves.

Abercromby’s initial mineral resource estimate is centered on its Capital deposit in the northwest portion of the northernmost of the project’s two contiguous mining claims.

BMG states that mineralization in the Capital Zone remains open at depth in northwest and southeast directions and that only 1.2 km of the 6 km of prospective stratigraphy has been adequately tested by drilling throughout the history of the corridor.

The current resource estimate includes an indicated and inferred total of 11.12 million tonnes grading 1.45 g/t gold for 518,000 ounces of gold. It includes 354,000 ounces of inferred and indicated gold grading 1.17 g/t gold extending from surface.

This estimate is within the context of a larger global resource, which is currently estimated to contain approximately 670,000 ounces of gold, within the current maximum limits of consistent exploration data.

The underground component of the resource currently includes 164,000 ounces of inferred and indicated gold at an average grade of 3.09 g/t gold located between 200m and 500m below surface.

The first phase of new drilling will now test extensions of the mineralization at the Capital deposit, with further drilling planned to test new gold discoveries at regional targets. BMG will also aim to convert the inferred resources in Abercromby’s first resource estimate to the indicated category with a higher level of confidence, with a view to carrying out further development studies leading to a robust delineation study for a potential mining operation.

Once current diamond drilling rounds are completed around the immediate Capital area, BMG plans additional diamond and reverse circulation (RC) drilling next year to test additional targets south along Capital , in what she calls her “discovery zone”.

The proposed new work will encompass all of the mineralization across the company’s two concessions, extending south to its Barrack and Archer prospects.

Air drilling (AC) returned 4m containing 1.46 g/t gold from 44m at Barrack, while at Archer three 4m AC intersections ranged 0.99 g/t, 1.21 g/t and 3.58 g/t gold from 28 m and 36 m. and 52 m depth respectively.

Drill figures and logs at Barrack-Archer confirm the existence of an extensive high-grade gold system along the lateral corridor of mineralization and support the potential for further discoveries similar to the Capital Zone.

Minimal drilling was undertaken in an area over 2 km long in the center of the BMG tenure, between Capital and the Archer-Barrack area.

Importantly for the economic potential of the project, ahead of the development of BMG’s mineral reserves, recent peer-reviewed metallurgical testing by Extreme Metallurgy shows that the Abercromby gold mineralization is open-mined, with excellent gold recoveries. gold between 93 and 95 percent and that it is acceptable. to traditional treatment by carbon leaching.

The Abercromby project is also located in an established mining and exploration area and has good infrastructure, including roads and a power grid.

Following the company’s successful $1.5 million fundraising from institutional and sophisticated investors early last month, BMG is now fully funded to complete its expansion drilling at Abercromby and advance studies of development in progress.

The new drilling programs could be crucial to the future of BMG Resources and the results of the work will be eagerly awaited.
