‘You don’t have any more’ – Gervonta Davis leaves presenter stunned as he claims he will retire from boxing at 30

Gervonta Davis has surprisingly declared that he will retire from boxing at the age of 30.

Davis has become one of the sport’s biggest superstars, having notably taken over a huge victory in a mega-fight with Ryan Garcia last year.

It’s the next set face Lamont Roach on March 1, an already delayed fight that was originally scheduled to take place this month.

If he beats Roach, a number of huge fights could await him, including a showdown with Shakur Stevenson and a rematch with Garcia.

But at the launch press conference, “Tank” left the room in shock, declaring that this could be his last year in the squared circle.

Davis muttered, “After next year, I won’t have any more.” »

The presenter, stunned, replied: “You don’t have any more, do you want to elaborate?”

He said: “Outside of sports, no, I can tell you about my struggles.”

It was a remarkable moment, which saw the presenter leave in a brief stunned silence before continuing the conversation.

The 30-year-old then expanded on his comments, reaffirming that his clash with Roach would be one of his last outings.

He added: “It’s over after this year. It’s trash, trash. I went out.

“I’m fed up. I don’t care about the belts. I don’t care about any of that.

“I’m scared of getting my money back and getting out of this. I’m just fed up. It’s not even boxing. It’s all. I have kids too.

“I just had a boy. I don’t want to keep fighting and getting hit and all that.

“I’ll probably build my real estate portfolio, just trying to get out of the spotlight.

“I just want to be able to make money and stay away, that’s all. I want to live without being seen.”

If the American sensation decided to hang up his gloves, the sport would lose one of its biggest names.

Davis has become a real pay-per-view draw, having emerged from the shadow of the former mentor and boxing legend. Floyd Mayweather.

If he beats Roach, there will of course be a number of huge money-making options on offer.

Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh wants to make a mega-offer for Davis to fight Stevenson later in the year.

And the prospect of getting involved in the series of lucrative fights taking place in the Middle East could entice Davis to return to the sport for a longer period.

Davis himself was more dismissive of a clash with Stevenson, insisting that he had not achieved enough to warrant a clash.
