Even after FBI: Most Wanted showrunner revealed Ethan’s big secret, I still didn’t expect so much drama for poor Hana

Spoilers ahead for episode 6 of FBI: Most Wanted Season 6, titled “Pageantry” and available to stream now with a Paramount+ Subscription.

After a brief break, FBI: Most Wanted returned to CBS in what remained of the TV schedule 2024 before the start of the TV schedule 2025 with an episode that involved a beauty pageant, assassins, the CIA and sarin, the latter of which took me back to one of FBIthe most intense intrigues of. It was also the epic episode from this showrunner David Hudgins had previewed at CinemaBlend earlier this fall, but none of his comments on EthanThe “secret” had prepared me for what Hannah would discover her boyfriend in “Pageantry”.

Before we get fully into the spoilers, let’s start with what the showrunner said that totally caught me off guard for the big reveal in the last episode.

What David Hudgins Told Me About Hana and Ethan

I spoke with FBI: Most Wanted showrunner David Hudgins ahead of season 6 this fall on everything from this return of Crosby At advantages of doing a full season Again. He also provided some relationship updates for main charactersincluding that “Hana is still with Ethan” to start the season.

I admitted to Hudgins that I initially suspected that Ethan was too good to be true for Hanaand he replied:

Ethan is back. He has no nefarious intentions, but he has a secret that Hana discovers, and they must work together to determine whether it will tear their relationship apart or not. You are not wrong. I mean, Michael Raymond-James has that sparkle, doesn’t he? We always have the impression that this kid is doing something stupid, that something is going on. But I love them together so much. I was telling someone earlier, I love watching the dailies when Michael is there, because after they say “cut”, watch him and Keisha interact, because they are hilarious together and have a good alchemy. So he doesn’t have any nefarious intentions, but he has a secret, and that leads to drama.

Although Hudgins mentioned a secret that could destroy their relationship, his comments about Michael Raymond-James And Keisha-Hughes Castle being “hilarious together” really made me think that nothing too serious would come between them. In fact, the showrunner went on to explain why he loves telling stories about characters’ personal lives as well as harrowing cases of the week, saying:

I think it’s good for the show. Personally, I love writing them and sharing these stories with writers. One of the things about the show, as it’s evolved over the years, is that coming home to our characters and seeing what’s going on in their personal lives is entertaining. We’re still going to have our driving story, catching our fugitive, but these are real people with real lives, and they have real problems and real triumphs and we want to tell those stories too.

Well, weeks after first speaking with Hudgins, I can definitely see that Ethan can raise “real issues” for Hana without actually having “nefarious intentions.” His secret seems destined to damage their relationship and possibly put her in a sticky situation as an FBI agent, but he doesn’t deliberately harm her. It’s just… very complicated. So, let’s talk about what happened for Hana to discover Ethan’s secret!

What happened in “Pageantry”

The episode opened with Ethan and Hana enjoying an evening watching TV together, with Ethan admitting that he has been “MIA” lately but had planned a special night for them later in the week: the Rockettes Christmas show at Radio City with a nice dinner. After. Hana was all smiles… which was perhaps a sign that things were going to take a dramatic turn, because they did. FBI: Most Wanted we speak. As he took Milo outside, a message appeared on his phone that he had left for Hana from a “Jamie” that read:

I missed you tonight. I’ll get up late if you need me xxoo

Now, even though Hana gave him the biggest benefit of the doubt about who “Jamie” is, the “xxoo” to end the text is pretty damning. She wasn’t totally disappointed though and was excited about their Radio City party…until he called to cancel. He said – seemingly sincerely – that he was truly sorry and intended to make it up to him.

And at the end of the episode, the other shoe dropped. Hana knocked on his apartment door when she couldn’t reach him for a few hours, then she came in and found him passed out in front of the television. It also wasn’t the kind of fainting spell you’d get after a long flight or after a good night’s sleep. She discovered a bottle of Oxycodone sitting on his counter, and the points related to the fact that he was extremely high. Slamming the key to her house, she gave him a minute to try to explain the situation and Jamie.

While he couldn’t do much other than mumble “It’s not” about Jamie, Hana declared that she was done, that she knew she was right about him. , and stormed out of the apartment. All the wife wanted was to enjoy a festive evening watching the Rockettes, and that’s what she gets!

Based on the showrunner’s comments, I’m actually inclined to think that Jamie is not another woman in the sense that Hana thinks. Could she be his dealer, who she was hoping to see so she could sell him more oxy? Or an NA sponsor who didn’t know he was off the wagon? Is there a perfectly reasonable explanation for the text “xxoo”?

And boy, did Hana and Barnes just meet up and go see the Rockettes together, no relationship drama allowed? Both women could use some fun at this point, and I haven’t forgotten what. Roxy Sternberg said about Barnes’ relationship with Hana when she broke down her big episode on CinemaBlend.

It remains to be seen whether we’ll get more answers as to whether Hana has a future with Ethan before winter break begins, as there is only one episode left before the fall finale. However, fans won’t have to wait too long into the new year to see the Fugitive Task Force return to action.
