The left demands Macron’s resignation after the fall of the government, the right-wing leader remains silent | N18G

The French left-wing party, La France Insoumise (LFI), demanded the resignation of President Emmanuel Macron after the government of Prime Minister Michel Barnier fell in a vote of no confidence on December 4. This vote, supported by opposition deputies from the far right and left. , voted with 331 votes, plunging France into a deeper political crisis. Mathilde Panot of LFI claimed that Macron’s entire political program had been defeated and called for his departure to break the deadlock. Barnier, who was criticized for using special constitutional powers to pass part of an unpopular budget, was expected to resign. The motion follows Macron’s decision to call early elections in June, which led to a polarized Parliament. The leader of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella, although critical of the government, did not call for Macron’s resignation but opposed the proposed budget, notably the tax increase. The crisis threatens France’s ability to legislate and remedy its budget deficit.
