She shared her harvest in a TikTok viral video uploaded under username
Love (@lydiascloset_). It has been viewed more than 56,600 times.

The popularity of these items seems to have taken her by surprise.

“Strange things are happening at TJ Maxx, and I need to know what’s going on,” the woman in the clip began. “Because I feel like I’m missing out.”

The woman said while shopping at TJ Maxx, she found two Hello Kitty ceramics that she found very cute.

She planned to keep one for herself and give another to a cousin who is a big Hello Kitty fan.

However, she said after placing the items in her cart, another shopper quickly spotted them. A little girl approached her with her mother to ask her questions about ceramics.

“She looks at me, she goes, ‘Where did you get these Hello Kitty ceramics?'” the TikToker reported.

The woman said she directed shoppers to the Halloween section, where she made the find, then continued shopping.

Love reports that moments later, the two men seemed upset that they had not been able to find the ceramics. This made the woman wonder what she had stumbled upon.

“Ooh, this is serious,” she said. “What did I find?”

Ultimately, the woman wondered what she was “missing?”

This isn’t the first time a TJ Maxx customer says her Halloween purchases sparked jealousy from other shoppers. Another customer went viral after saying a woman I followed her to her car chasing a stuffed ghost she bought at the store.

Hello Kitty products also have a special appeal.

In-demand collectibles are often the subject of viral videos. Many have made purchasing logoed products a hobby. Some also resell the same items at higher prices.

Last year, another buyer went viral after finding Hello Kitty items hidden in the store.

Hello Kitty is a world-famous character created by Yuko Shimizu in 1974. Since its release over fifty years ago, it has enjoyed enormous commercial success, raking in billions.

A woman named Yang Tao currently holds the Guinness World Record to own the most Hello Kitty products. Her inventory numbered 7,096 items when she set the record.

Viewers weigh in

In the comments section of the video, many had a lot to say about Hello Kitty’s popularity.

“Superb finds by the way. You’re lucky,” one viewer wrote.

Others also guessed why the products are so sought after.

“Because they resell for ridiculous amounts on Facebook Marketplace!” They suck,” said an anonymous viewer.

“People have agreed to buy Hello Kitty and resell it at double the price or with a “finder’s fee.” I grew up loving Hello Kitty and it’s so hard to add things to my BC collection, user Carolina Ramirez wrote.

However, others have noted that the brand is less popular in their TJ Maxx store.

“There’s so much Hello Kitty stuff at my homegoods/tjmaxx, even some on clearance, no one here cares,” user Tiffany wrote.
