The 65-year-old broadcaster, who revealed he spoke with the 55-year-old singer “two or three times”, said she had always been “difficult” and that he once left one of their dates .

Speaking to the crowd at the K-9 Angels Christmas carol concert in Chiswick, he recounted an awkward meeting in which Mariah insisted on lying down because she was tired.

Eamonn explained how the superstar was “resting” when he walked into her room, he recalls: “I said, ‘Well, either I lie down too or she can sit up.’

“She looks confused in the middle of it all because she’s what you might call a prima donna and she likes attention.

“She may have made one record in her life that made her famous and everyone loves her. But I’ve interviewed her two or three times in my life and she’s always been difficult.

He concluded: “I wasn’t allowed to lie down next to her and she wouldn’t sit down, so we didn’t do the interview.”

The charity event included performances from celebrities, including S Club’s Jo O’Meara and Jon Lee, who headlined.

Eamonn recently revealed he has “no hard feelings” towards his ex Ruth Langsford and is simply focused on “living his life” despite reports he is “seething” over his recent trip to Australia.

A source told MailOnline he was baffled by reports he was angry about her long-haul flight because he always struggled to get Ruth to travel with him during their marriage.

They said, “This all makes no sense. He lives his life and there are no hard feelings. He never got angry and it’s just laughable that he would.

Ruth has just returned from her brief trip to Australia, to her, I’m a celebrity… Get me out of here! appearance.

And GB News presenter Eamonn 65 made his red carpet debut with new girlfriend Katie Alexander at a star-studded TRIC Christmas lunch at the Londoner Hotel on Tuesday.

While a number of the former couple’s friends were at the party, Ruth, 64, was noticeably absent as she filmed ITV2 spin-off show I’m A Celebrity Unpacked.

It was reported that Eamonn was “completely baffled and a bit hurt” by Ruth’s appearance on the show Down Under, as she always told him she hated flying.

Ruth, also 64, announced her separation from the broadcaster in June after 14 years of marriage and 27 years together.

MailOnline has contacted Eamonn and Ruth’s rep for comment.

Eamonn jokingly revealed in 2019 that Ruth would only board a plane if she had had several alcoholic drinks, as she is a very nervous traveler.

Speaking on This Morning at the time, Eamonn said: “Ruthie doesn’t like planes, it’s not an easy task.”

Ruth added: “I’m not completely phobic, but a lot of people will be like that and feel uncomfortable. For others, it poses a real barrier to their way of traveling.

Eamonn interrupted, adding: “Ruth has the perfect solution. She drinks to forget. She drinks before the flight, she drinks during the flight and she drinks after the flight. It helps him forget.

Laughing, Ruth said: “That’s a bit of Dutch courage,” before adding: “You’re not doing my PR any good this morning, are you?”
