Assam launches Gunotsav 2025 with innovative mobile app for school assessment |

Guwahati: The Assam government will launch its annual state-wide exercise to assess the quality of school education, “Gounotsav 2025“, in January next year, encompassing more than 44,000 schools in all 35 districts, an official statement said on Friday.
New features are being implemented for the upcoming assessment, including a mobile phone app for reporting and uniform assessment. “Gunotsav” was initially organized in the state in 2017, and five rounds of this assessment have already been carried out, covering all districts.
The exercise will be conducted in all 35 districts in three phases, encompassing 44,094 schools – government/provincialised, tea garden model schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalaya, Adarsha Vidyalayas and tea garden run schools. tea. A total of 3,965,081 students from classes 1 to 9 will be included in the initiative.
Barpeta, Bajali, Karimganj, Kamrup, Karbi Anglong, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Sivasagar, South Salmara Mankachar and Udalguri will be covered in the first phase from January 6 to 9. Baksa, Chirang, Charaideo, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Hojai, Jorhat, Kamrup (Metro), Sonitpur, Tamulpur, Tinsukia and West Karbi Anglong will be covered in the second phase from January 17 to 22. Bongaigaon, Biswanath, Darrang, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Cachar, Nalbari, Morigaon, Dima Hasao and Majuli will be covered in the third phase from January 17 to 22. From February 5 to 8.
The salient features include 10 percent weightage of marks to be considered in the annual examination, incorporation of Gunotsav timetable in the academic calendar, absent students to be taken into account in academic grading and day of external evaluation, teachers must be exchanged within the cluster.
Among the new features is a Gunotsav mobile application, complementing the existing Gunotsav web portal. The application facilitates the submission of school evaluation items and observation reports from external evaluators. Uniform assessment has been incorporated as a separate assessment criterion as per the directive of the Chief Minister.
The external assessor must assess various uniform indicators/descriptors and submit their observations via the portal or application. The observation report of the external evaluator during Gunotsav 2024 will be posted on the Gunotsav 2025 portal. The external evaluator of Gunotsav 2025 will examine whether any action against the previous observation report was taken, and the views/comments will be uploaded in the new observation format.
