Kolkata Knight Riders could be on the lookout for a new captain ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League season with a report claiming that Shreyas Iyer is set to leave the franchise despite leading them to triumph earlier this year. Iyer was named KKR captain after being bought in the IPL 2022 auction for Rs 12.25 crore.

According to a report from CricbuzzIyer reportedly negotiated with the franchise for a higher salary, a demand which KKR did not agree to, meaning he will not be on their retention list. However, that doesn’t mean their story is over as the three-time IPL champions can use the Right to Match (RTM) card to buy it in the mega auction that is expected to take place in November this week last.
