“Religious seminaries will not accept government interference,” says Fazlur Rehman

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Sunday said religious seminaries were not ready to accept government interference.

Expressing his thoughts, Rehman said, “The seminars will function independently. The practical demonstration of the control of the seminaries was given by the creation of the directory.

“It was said that the registration of seminars would be maintained. It was also said that he would extend cooperation in the registration of new seminars,” Rehman said.

Rehman said, “It was claimed that he would also extend cooperation by establishing bank accounts. No one can dirty us.

“Don’t let the media be misused in accordance with religious seminaries,” he added.

He maintains: “It was written in the law that the seminaries would be independent. It was said that 18,000 religious seminaries had been registered.

Recalling the mandate of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), Rehman said, “The PDM-led government had prepared the draft in agreement with religious seminaries. Subsequently, an intervention was carried out and this project was stopped.

“Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Asif Ali Zardari, Shehbaz Sharif and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan were part of the PDM-led government,” Rehman said.

“Parliament and the constitution could have been harmed if the original draft of the 26th constitutional amendment had been adopted,” he added.

Rehman maintained, “I had talks of five hours each with Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and Shehbaz Sharif in connection with religious seminaries. The PTI had said the party had no objection.

“This bill was presented to Parliament and approved by consensus. Despite this whole process, why were the signatures done from the President’s House,” he added.

He asked, “Are you ready for our march to Islamabad?”

“We will win this war. Mufti Taqi Usmani also said that the meeting of all seminaries would take place to bring opinion to a consensus,” Rehman said.

“Our meeting will be held on December 16 or 17, where we will take a decision in this regard by consensus,” he added.

Rehman said: “It is not us who are petrified by the threats. »
