UP DGP unveils blockade plan to strengthen law enforcement

Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Prashant Kumar on Monday issued instructions for a new comprehensive blockade plan in all districts of the state, aimed at improving law enforcement and curbing activities criminals.

The plan aims to ensure rapid action in response to crimes by immediately closing city borders and sensitive areas. In the event of a crime, the city’s borders will be sealed and a blockade will be put in place to prevent the criminal from escaping. To support this effort, police forces will carry out continuous day and night patrols at key points, with additional resources such as 112 Uttar Pradesh Police Response Vehicles (PRVs) deployed to help quick responses.

The DGP stressed the importance of including newly constructed roads in the blockade plan and requested that all police personnel be equipped with necessary security tools, including government weapons and body-worn cameras. Regular mock exercises will be conducted to ensure readiness and effective implementation of the plan. All officers will be briefed on the blockade procedure prior to deployment to ensure uniformity and preparedness across all police units.

In addition, the plan includes special instructions to prevent the spread of rumors or disinformation, especially regarding the locations of checkpoint activities, in coordination with the police control room, social media cells and units local intelligence services (LIU).

The DGP also directed Inspectors General (IGs), Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) and District Police Chiefs to prepare and implement blockade plans in their respective areas, with outpost in-charges also being invited to inform their teams accordingly.

Through this initiative, the Uttar Pradesh Police aims to improve its capacity to respond promptly to criminal incidents, maintain public order and ensure the safety and security of citizens across the state.
