AP Men’s College Basketball Poll Reaction: What’s Next for Every Top 25 Team?

The new AP Top 25 men’s basketball poll is out!

After a tough week for Kansas – with losses to Creighton and Missouri – the Jayhawks fell from number 1 to number 10. It was a week to forget for some programs and a week to forget for others, particularly the Jayhawks of Kansas.

Auburn looked poised to take first place before losing to Duke.

This means that Tennessee claims the top spot for the first time since February 2019.

Who else is making moves in this week’s AP Top 25? Here’s the latest on each team in the rankings and what’s next.

Stat to know: Tennessee is 8-0 for the first time since 2000-01 after a big game Chaz Lanier. He had 26 points on 4-of-10 shooting from deep — his fifth straight game with at least four 3-point FGs, marking the longest streak by a Tennessee player since Chris Lofton in January-February. 2008 (six consecutive).

Stat to know: Iowa State’s win over Marquette marked its third straight home victory against an AP Top 5 opponent, its longest streak since 2012-16.

Stat to know: Cooper Flagg dominated in Duke’s win over Auburn, its second victory against a ranked opponent this season. He became the first freshman with 20 points, 10 rebounds and two steals against the AP top 2 since Kevin Durant in 2007 against Kansas.

Stat to know: Mark Pope is off to a strong start as leader in Lexington. Kentucky’s 90-89 overtime victory over Gonzaga meant Pope joined Adolph Rupp as the only Kentucky coach to win their first two games against AP Top 10 opponents.
