Enjoy Great Indian Food in Halifax at These 5 Spectacularly Spicy Spots

It’s not always possible to find good Indian food in Nova Scotia, but the tide has turned towards South Asian cuisine in the province, and particularly in the capital Halifax, making it easier than ever to find excellent Indian cuisine to satisfy your curry craving. biryani, and beyond.

If you’re planning a trip to Halifax and want to sample the best Indian cuisine the city has to offer, you’ll want to keep reading. The following Indian restaurants are some of the city’s most popular, and once you take that first bite, it’ll be easy to see why.

Red Chilli Flavors of India

Red Chilli Flavors of India in Bedford is popular for its all-day menu, but it’s particularly notable for its weekend breakfast menu (available Friday through Sunday). Breakfast dishes range from masala dosas to bread omelettes with all the sides and toppings you’d expect from a decadent Indian breakfast.

Adda Indian Restaurant

Quietly nestled in Spring Garden Place in downtown Halifax, Adda Indian Restaurant is one of the best places for a quick lunch in town. There you’ll find delicious plates and bowls as well as street food-inspired takeout options (try the grilled paneer sandwich!) and a perfectly salty and sweet masala chai tea.

Tawa-Grill

Tawa-Grill is conveniently located on Lower Water Street, making it the perfect place to pop into once you’ve had your fill of the sights and sounds of the harbor. This casual restaurant is very affordable but doesn’t skimp on quality or flavor, especially the chili gobi (a breaded fried cauliflower dish) which is out of this world delicious.

Mirchi Tandoor

Mirchi Tandoor on Blowers Street is easily one of the best Indian restaurants in Halifax for comfortable dining (although they also offer takeaway!). Here you’ll find an extensive menu filled with classics like samosas, bhajis and pakoras to start with, plus several excellent curries and biryani dishes, including a generous seafood menu (which is especially great given its location by the sea).

Rasa: Flavors of India

If you’re looking for a trendy place to sit, you’ll want to opt for Rasa: Flavors of India. The dining space is chic and welcoming with an industrial and Hollywood Regency interior aesthetic. The menu is equally good, with standout dishes including an incredible prawn pakora and malai kofta. It’s also worth noting that Rasa has an excellent cocktail menu if you’re in the mood for something a little stronger than a lassi or cup of chai.
