New Delhi, Dec 11 (PTI) Deputy Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi has urged President Om Birla to look into the party’s complaint against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey’s “defamatory remarks” against Rahul Gandhi and remove from file.

Gogol said that after the President’s decision, the Congress party wanted to participate in the legislative work planned for the current winter session of Parliament.

Releasing the letter on

Gogoi suggested a way forward to resume discussions, he said.

But does the Modi government want both Houses to function, Ramesh asked.

In his letter to Birla dated December 10, Gogoi said, “As I have highlighted to you in my previous letters dated December 5, 2024 and December 6, 2024, we remain deeply concerned by the defamatory remarks made by MP Nishikant Dubey against the party leader. Opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra during the zero hours session on December 5, 2024.” “I implore you to announce your decision to look into our complaint and remove from the record all defamatory remarks and unparliamentary,” Gogoi said.

“After your decision, the Congress Party wishes to participate in the legislative work planned for the ongoing winter session of Parliament,” he said.

Lashing out at BJP MP Dubey for establishing links between a foreign investor and Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi, the Congress had last Thursday said that ‘Adani agents’ had only one task : defame and mistreat those who denounce the “mega corruption” of the conglomerate. .

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Gogoi said that whenever Rahul Gandhi speaks against Adani, the “Adani sleeper cells” in Parliament are activated.

Dubey’s remarks targeting Rahul Gandhi and seeking to link him to a US-based multi-billionaire triggered an uproar in the Lok Sabha, leading to the adjournment of proceedings.

Raising the issue on Zero Hour, Dubey had alleged that the Congress-led opposition had tried to derail the proceedings of Parliament based on reports in a French publication reporting alleged links with the billionaire investor.

He claimed that the American investor, the investigative media platform Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) and Congress were trying to derail India’s success story under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.

Dubey said several opposition leaders raised the issues reported in the media, many of which were published on the eve of parliamentary sessions in India.
