It’s time to forget… – NUFC The Mag

It’s time to forget all the talk about injured players, Newcastle United stars likely to leave and Eddie Howe under pressure.

We should only focus on Leicester City’s visit to St James’ Park on Saturday 14 December.

This match is going to be a real test of the determination of this Newcastle United team and their supporters.

Ruud Van Nistlerooy is the new manager of Leicester City and I think the Foxes have made a wise choice.

They have already had a new coaching bounce, comprehensively beating West Ham and coming from two goals down with just minutes to spare against Brighton in their last outing, to grab what seemed an improbable point.

Jamie Vardy, who has been a thorn in Newcastle’s side over the years, is still there and at Gallowgate I’m sure he will receive a warm welcome.

When Leicester won the Premier League title in 2015/16, they shook up the Septic Six cartel.

It was this shock to the status quo that then saw the Premier League bosses go all in with the rats, to ensure there would never be a repeat of Leicester’s fairytale season.

They still can’t completely erase the memories of Claudio Ranieri’s spirited team no matter how hard they try, and it also shouldn’t be forgotten that Leicester have since won the FA Cup under Brendan Rodgers.

We have had some memorable encounters against Leicester over the years.

Beat promotion chasing Foxes on the final day of the 1991/92 season with a last-gasp goal to escape relegation to the Third Division.

A year later we celebrated our promotion as Premier Division champions with a 7-1 demolition of Leicester at St James’ Park.

One of the most beautiful goals ever scored Saint-James Park was against Leicester City in the 1970s.

It was a Supermac blockbuster that remained ingrained in the memories of fans who witnessed his remarkable efforts.

Too bad there aren’t TV cameras to record it forever.

Players who represented both teams Premier League The era includes Steve Guppy, Danny Simpson, Ayoze Perez and of course Harvey Barnes.

I have a feeling Harvey could have a crucial role to play this weekend. I hope Eddie feels the same way right now.

Let’s support Eddie Howe and the team 100% and hope that by Saturday afternoon everyone can feel more optimistic.
