UPSRTC prepares for Maha Kumbh 2025 with 350 shuttles and emergency teams – Roadways News

The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has launched a comprehensive transport plan for the upcoming Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj. To ensure a smooth and efficient journey for the millions of expected pilgrims, the UPSRTC has positioned 350 shuttles. Additionally, a dedicated team of 22 agents will manage the operational system to ensure seamless coordination is maintained during the event. Anurag Yadav has been appointed as Head of Services in Moradabad to lead this initiative, with the religious event scheduled to begin on January 13, 2025.

Rapid response team deployed on main roads

The Quick Response Teams (QRT) have been deployed on all seven main roads leading to Prayagraj to strengthen emergency response capabilities. These teams will be armed with interceptor vehicles and will also have personnel trained in operational and technical risk management as well as law enforcement officers from the Transportation Corporation. Their main objective will be to provide immediate assistance and mitigate disruptions to the event.

A temporary workshop will be set up near the bus stations to resolve possible technical problems encountered by buses coming from different regions. Additionally, eight temporary bus stations will also be constructed in the Kumbh Mela area to accommodate the massive number of visitors. Each station will be monitored by chief officers and will also be assisted by retired advisors.

Additional services for key swimming dates

During peak days, UPSRTC also plans to allocate 2,000 buses during the first phase of the religious event. The fleet will be further expanded to 7,000 buses, including 6,800 ordinary buses and 200 AC buses during the second phase of the main bathing date. It is also planned to provide environmentally friendly transport options by allocating 200 city electric buses which will operate as shuttles on key dates.

Transport Corporation Managing Director Masoom Ai Sarwar shared details with ANI about the ongoing preparations under the supervision of Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh. Mobile dispensing units or navigators were installed in temporary depots to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply. Gaurav Verma was recruited as a fair officer to look after these efforts.

UPSRTC has also set up a toll-free helpline for devotees (1800 1802 877) and a WhatsApp number (9415049606) for help and support. Both numbers will be operational 24/7 and will provide real-time help.
