Detroit Lions beat writer and podcaster say Ford Field is quieter this season

THE Detroit Lions have upset members of their fan base with the decision to once again raise ticket prices for the 2025 NFL season.

For the second year in a row, the Lions have decided to increase the price of subscriptions and a substantial amount in certain sections.

Supporters took to social media to share their tickets Its price has almost doubled since 2022.

Unfortunately, many long-term ticket holders must make the decision not to renew their ticket. Given the more than 23,000 people on the current waiting list, the Lions will have no difficulty replacing fans who decide not to pay the higher prices.

One of the concerns raised online is the potential change in atmosphere at Ford Field.

Companies tend to purchase expensive tickets. Fans not cheering as loudly or standing idly by could result in a different vibe at Ford Field in years to come.

SB Nation Lions writer Jeremy Reisman responded to the price increase by sharing his thoughts on crowd reactions at Lions games this season.

According to Reisman, “I’ve said it several times this year, but Ford Field already doesn’t seem as loud as it was last year. Maybe it was lightning in a bottle, maybe it was the result of rising ticket prices, maybe it’s just my imagination. But I fear Ford Field is losing its edge.

A prominent Lions podcaster, Locked on the Lions host Matt Dery, echoed similar sentiments after attending the team’s Week 14 game against the Packers.

“It’s a fun environment,” Déry said. “Was it as loud last Thursday as it was last season when I went to some of the games? It wasn’t. Why? I’m not saying it’s a wine and cheese crowd, but I think they’re starting to raise the price of some of the more diehards And those who are being considered are perhaps some of the wealthier people It might not be as loud during the. games.

Most of the time, this writer now wears headphones to listen to the radio and avoid ringing in the ears, which has occurred several times in recent years.

The environment at Ford Field continues to be one of the most difficult places for opponents to play.

But a change in the fan base could happen gradually over the next couple of years, as ticket prices doesn’t look like it’s going down anytime soon.
