Driver crashes into property after endless brunch

A drink driver who crashed outside a property after heading to a bottomless brunch has been sentenced.

Lindami Mremi, 22, rushed towards the driveway of a house in Robin’s Wood Road, Aspley, Nottingham, causing more than £4,500 of damage.

Nottingham Crown Court heard that Mremi had previously attended an endless brunch with friends and wrongly thought he could absorb the alcohol by eating all evening, Nottinghamshire Police said.

A positive roadside breath test recorded 81 micrograms of alcohol per 100 milliliters of breath, more than double the legal limit of 35 micrograms.

Mremi, of Newmarket Road, Bulwell, admitted drink-driving, dangerous driving and breaching the Bail Act.

He was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, and disqualified from driving for 12 months.

He must also pay compensation of £1,800 and complete up to 20 days of rehabilitation activity.
