Schwab to Add S&P 500, Nasdaq-100 and ETF Stocks to 24/5 Trading

Charles Schwab announced that it will begin testing additional access to the overnight trading session by expanding it to include stocks from the S&P 500, Nasdaq-100 and hundreds of additional exchange-traded funds (ETFs) available for trading 24 hours a day, five days. one week (24/5).

Night trading is just one way Schwab clients interact with the markets outside of standard trading hours. Schwab also offers pre- and post-market extended hours trading sessions on its trading platforms.

Futures trading, including options on futures contracts, and Forex trading are available to customers with approved accounts through thinkorswim.

Ameritrade, which was acquired by Schwab in 2020, pioneered 24/5 trading in 2018, when it was the first U.S. retail brokerage to make it available to traders.

Since then, customers using Ameritrade’s and now Schwab’s thinkorswim trading platforms have had access to about two dozen ETFs during the overnight trading session.

Schwab will begin testing expanded nighttime access with a small group of customers and gradually expand to full customer access in 2025.

S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 will join the 24/5 trading list

The provider of investment and trading specialists has $9.92 trillion in total client assets and facilitates approximately six million daily transactions on average.

Close Orders: Manage your positions more easily with convenient new actions, including Sell All for Stocks and Close and Roll, meaning the ability to close an existing position and open another in a single transaction for options, on Schwab.com and Schwab Mobile.
