BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – Plenty of sunshine for Tuesday leading to a mild afternoon with highs into the 50s. Even the mountains will rise well above freezing into the 40s, or even close to 50. You may know that this is not your typical December day in terms of temperatures. We are approaching the first day of winter which begins on Saturday the 21st at 4:21 a.m. Even if it will be mild today and again tomorrow, that changes for Thursday. It will be colder later this week, then even colder this weekend. The new season is going to look a lot more like it should, but even that won’t last that long and we’ll be warming up again early next week. This back and forth pattern will feature rain at times on Wednesday and then rain and snow showers on Friday depending on your elevation. There could be some light accumulations to end the week in the mountains. Lots of sun Sunday and Monday, but staying cold. Temperatures will rise next week, but only return to about average, with highs in the 30s and temperatures in the lower 40s.
