Pineapple on pizza is delicious – and if you don’t agree, you can’t connect to WordPress.org

There are few topics in life that divide a room more than the prudence of putting pineapple on pizza. But if you’re convinced that tropical fruits don’t belong on a pie, you’ll have to swallow a bitter pill – if you even want access to the WordPress.org developer portal and forum.

Users this week reported see an additional checkbox on the WordPress.org login page, requiring them to agree that “Pineapple is delicious on pizza”.

It would be easy to laugh and attribute this to the festive rejoicings of the good people of WordPress Foundationbut it’s actually part of the ongoing process WordPress vs WP Engine hubbub currently playing in court.

WordPress developer Automattic blocked WP Engine from accessing the open source project’s core resources back in septemberwhile also inserting a checkbox requiring users to confirm that they are not affiliated with WP Engine. Last week, a court ordered Automattic to reverse course on both points. So now everyone from freelancers to multinational companies must instead confirm that they prefer pineapple on pizza.

What a time to be alive.
