Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority seeks funding to replace toxic moss

PORTLAND (WGME) – The Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority met Thursday to further discuss the toxic foam spill in Brunswick.

It happened in August after a hangar malfunction at Brunswick Executive Airport.

This led to a massive cleanup and calls for the removal of remaining foam systems.

The MRRA says it has requested funding from the FAA and the governor’s office to purchase new technology to replace toxic foam.

The airport is currently modifying its master plan to assess infrastructure needs and remove PFAS from hangars.

MRRA is also searching nationwide for a new executive director after Kristine Logan announced she would step down earlier this month.
