NBA Analyst Praises Detroit Pistons Amid Early Season Success

The 2023-24 campaign has been unforgettable for the Detroit Pistonsas the franchise’s trajectory seemed bleak. Years after their rebuild, they showed no signs of growth and finished with the worst record in the league. However, after a big summer of change, the Pistons appear to be getting back on track.

With about a week until Christmas Day, the Pistons are already on pace to match their win total from last season (14). Through 27 games, they are 11-16 and in playoff contention in the Eastern Conference.

In their last game, Detroit managed to pull out a one-point victory against the Miami Heat in overtime. After pulling out a hard-fought victory while shorthanded, they received praise from a longtime NBA analyst.

Fred Katz Athletics took to X/Twitter to share his thoughts on the Pistons’ new look. He feels like they look like a completely different team this year and Cade Cunningham looks like an All-Star.

A big part of the reason the Pistons have improved dramatically this season is Cunningham’s play. The former first-round pick is in the midst of a breakout campaign, posting averages of 23.5 PPG, 7.5 rebounds and 9.7 assists. He’s built a strong case for an All-Star nomination, but only time will tell if he’ll get the first nod of his young career.

It’s rare for a team to experience such a drastic turnaround in just one year, but the multiple changes at all levels of the organization have paid huge dividends for the Pistons. Their rebuild is back on track as they potentially have a chance to end their playoff drought.
