The threat of fog is over with the arrival of an overnight cold front

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – It was another foggy start this morning with a warm afternoon with highs in the 70s. Tonight a cold front arrives, clearing out moisture and fog over the next few days. Expect winds to pick up from the north, bringing much colder air on Thursday. You’ll need jackets and sweaters throughout southeast Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast, with morning lows starting in the 40s and 50s. Although we’ll see some highs from the sun, they’ll have some bad and will stay in the 50s for most of the day.

Friday morning it will be even cooler with 30 seconds in the north and 40 seconds in the south. During the day, the sun will allow a slight rebound in high temperatures before the next front. This will continue late Friday, allowing icy conditions to return Saturday morning to the north and west of the lake and about 30 seconds to the south as well. High temperatures Saturday and Sunday will struggle to climb out of the 50s. By Monday, high pressure will settle in just above with light winds and very dry air in some areas farther north, especially northern Tangipahoa, Washington Parishes and Pearl River County could experience severe freezing conditions with temperatures in the mid 20s. Pay attention to the forecast during this busy holiday weekend.
