Kashi Vidvat Parishad Scholars to Examine Claims About Shiva Temple Discovery in Varanasi | Varanasi News

Varanasi: Shri Kashi Vidwat Parishad examines the request for Sanatan Rakshak Dal that a temple remained closed for decades in the communally sensitive neighborhood Madanpura region was by Siddheshwar Mahadev.
After Tuesday’s events, the area was calm on Wednesday, thanks to strict security measures. District magistrate S Rajalingam, who took stock of the situation on Tuesday evening, said on Wednesday, “ADM (City) has been directed to verify the facts and documents relating to the status of the temple. temple or private property. Further action will be taken based on the findings.
Taking note of SRD’s claims, Shri Kashi Vidwat Parishad decided to intervene and look into the truth. Parishad general secretary Ram Narain Dwivedi said, “Since it was claimed that the temple belonged to Siddheshwar Mahadev, as mentioned in Kashi Khand, we started searching for texts relating to it, including Skanda Purana. If this claim turns out to be true, the temple would be opened to offer prayers and rituals.
The Parishad will send a delegation of scholars to the temple on Thursday for an on-site study, he said, adding that once the research is completed, they will submit an opinion on the temple. The officials are astonished and wonder who, even if they ensured the opening of the temple, would take care of it and organize regular prayers and rituals. On this, the Parishad said if it was clear that the temple was meant for the public, he would ask the Kashi Vishwanath Temple to adopt it and ensure regular prayers.
Members of the Sanatan Rakshak Dal, who arrived in Devnathpura on Monday and claimed that the temple housed the ‘Siddheshwar Mahadev’ as mentioned in the Kashi Khand text, the group’s leader Ajay Sharma said the officials took the Time to check the facts and documents before making a decision on opening the temple. “We will cooperate with the administration,” he added.
Earlier, following the organisation’s claims on Tuesday, dozens of women arrived and started blowing conch shells and reciting holy verses near the temple in Devnathpura locality of Madanpura. That irked residents in the predominantly Muslim area, who said they had only seen the temple closed for seven decades. “There are many temples in our locality where regular prayers are held without any disturbance and we have no objection to prayers in this temple also. But peace should not be disturbed by promoting activities like those on Tuesday.” , they said. A large police force remained deployed in the area on Wednesday, while two ACP camped in the area to monitor the situation.
