All higher seeds in District 12 win in first round | News, Sports, Jobs

The first round of the Region 6, District 12 volleyball tournament began Thursday, October 31 at Minot Auditorium.

The first day featured a game based on the standings of the regular season standings. One played eight, two played seven, three played six and four played five on the first day.

Glenburn will face Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood while Bishop Ryan will face Surrey today, November 1, in the first games at Minot Auditorium.

Our Redeemer’s will face Berthold and South Prairie-Max will face Des Lacs-Burlington in the semifinals on the second day of the tournament today as well.

#1 Our Redeemer 3, #8 Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood 0

The Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood Mavericks started fast and quickly took a 6-2 lead over the top-seeded Knights and extended it to an 11-3 lead before our Redeemer called time died and cut the lead and tied the game 14-14. their way to the 25-17 victory in the first quarter.

Our Redeemers did not allow the same buffer in the second set as they took a 14-4 lead, causing the Mavericks to time out. The Knights extended their lead to a 25-11 victory in the second period to take a 2-0 lead.

Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood led 1-0 early in the third period and tied the game at 3-3 before the Knights took a 10-3 lead that resulted in a 25-7 victory for Our Redeemer’s and scanning.

Our Redeemer was led by Mikayla Altringer and Noel Pankratz with eight kills each. Brooklyn Roedocker had six while Tavia Carlson added four kills and 11 digs. Grace Olson had 26 assists, ten digs and four aces.

Olivia Ebel had a pair of aces and eight digs. Kadyn Braun had five aces and seven digs while Ellie Streyle had six digs to go along with her two aces for the Knights.

Mohall-Lansofrd-Sherwood was led by Emerson Lamb with three kills and a block at the net. Cloe Weathers had two blocks and a kill while Archer Ackerman and Hattie Varty each had a kill at the net. Ackerman recorded five assists while Varty had an ace.

Lamb and Jordyn Moberg each had seven digs in the effort while Ackerson had five and Weathers had four in the match.

#4 Berthold 3,

Fifth-seeded Glenburn lost the first frame to fourth-seeded Berthold 25-17 before the Panthers won frames two and three 25-23 and 25-21 to take a 2-1 lead on the Bombers.

Berthold came back into the match with the fourth frame victory at 25-16 and used that momentum to take the 15-11 victory in the fifth and deciding frame. The Berthold vs. Glenburn game was the only game that did not end in a sweep.

The Bombers were led by Kasey Simons with 22 kills, 16 digs and four aces. Addison Neshem and Shayne Simons each added seven kills. Neshem added three blockers and four aces in the effort.

Aubree Schepp had five blocks and Ella Brown had 35 assists for Berthold. Elissa Lindahl had 22 digs while Jericka Schenfisch had 28 in the victory.

The Panthers were led by Emma Jones with 16 kills, 17 digs and seven blocks. Aubrie Guick had seven kills while Milan Jones had six kills and a block in the effort.

Sophie Cunningham had 25 assists and 35 digs in the match. Ava Steven’s had 14 digs while Hallie Matens had three aces for Glenburn in the match.

#2 South Prairie-Max 3,

#7 Surrey 0

The second-seeded South Prairie-Max team led 11-1 in the first quarter and cruised to a 25-19 victory as the Surrey Mustangs wouldn’t go quietly into the evening.

Surrey also maintained this fighting spirit in the second quarter with exchanges of points at the start of the match. The Royals chipped away and took a 9-3 lead before rolling to a 25-7 victory and a 2-0 lead.

The third frame started like the second, with each team trading points and breaking serve. After a 4-4 tie, South Prairie-Max gained momentum and earned a 25-10 victory for the sweep.

The Royals were led by Azjiah Trader with 15 kills, four blocks and four digs. Skyler and Skotti Beck each had six kills and two blocks in the match. Abby Mikkelson also had five blocks.

Reagan Trudell had 32 assists while Delaney Handel had 14 digs and two aces. Hailey Sys had six aces and seven digs in South Prairie-Max’s win.

Surrey was led by Makya Gerding with five kills, two aces and a block. Morgan Anderson and Ava Keller each had five kills and Keller had two blocks. Anderson added nine digs. Alexa Ryals had eight assists while Avery Cree had seven assists and five digs.

Kenzie Neighbors published ten digs and two blocks. Taylor Spaulding added six digs in the effort for the Mustangs.

#3 Des Lacs-Burlington 3, #6 Bishop Ryan 0

The third-seeded Des Lacs-Burlington team and the sixth-seeded Bishop Ryan Lions traded points, draw situations, momentum and timeouts in all three sets.

In the first set, after a 5-5 draw, the Lions took a 7-5 advantage over the Lakers. This led to an 8-8 tie, followed by an 11-8 lead for the Lakers.

The teams then worked to a 13-13 tie, followed by a 17-15 lead for the Lions. The lead moved to 18-16 Lions, then 22-20 Lions – Lakers timeout.

After the timeout, the score was then 23-22 for the Lions, with another timeout for the Lakers. After the timeout, the teams played to a 23-23 tie which led to a score of 24-23 for the Lakers Lions.

After this timeout, the game ended in a 25-23 victory for the Lakers.

The second frame went from a 2-2 tie to a 6-4 lead for the Lakers, which led to a 10-5 lead for Des Lacs-Burlington and an eventual 25-13 victory for a 2-0 Lakers lead.

The Lakers took a 3-0 lead early in the third quarter and built a 7-3 lead before the Lions cut the DLB margin to 8-6 when the Lakers broke serve.

Shortly after, the Lakers led 14-7 then 18-9 and 22-14 before Bishop Ryan closed the gap.

In the end, Des Lacs-Burlington won the game 22-18 for the sweep.

Des Lacs-Burlington was led by Piper Feller and Logen Ystaas who each had 14 kills on net. Mycah Faken also added five kills and a block. Kaylee Werner had 36 assists and eight digs. Ystaas also made 13 digs in the match.

Feller had 12 digs while Hailey Goetz added eight digs and an ace. Ava Brown had a block and an ace in the Lakers’ victory.
