Om Prakash Chautala, former CM of Haryana, dies at 89 | News from India

Indian national president of Lok Dal and former Haryana CM Om Prakash Chautala passed away in Gurugram on Thursday (20.12.2024), a party spokesperson said. He was 89 years old.

Chautala, five-time CM of Haryana and son of former Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal, suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence in Gurugram. He was rushed to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram but did not survive, the spokesperson confirmed to PTI.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Sini expressed his deep condolences in a post on ‘X’ stating, “The demise of INLD supremo and former Haryana Chief Minister Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala ji is extremely sad. My humble tribute to him. He served the state and society throughout his life. This is an irreparable loss to the politics of the country and the state of Haryana. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to give a place to the soul of the deceased between his feet and give him strength. it is up to the bereaved family to bear this grief.

Speaking to reporters over Chautala’s death, Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda said, “The state of Haryana and I have suffered a great setback following his death. We had family relationships. He served Haryana as an MP, MP and CM. new. I pray to God that his soul rests in peace.

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge wrote in an article on ‘X’: “The news of the death of former Chief Minister and senior leader of Haryana Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala is sad. He has made significant contribution in the service of Haryana and the country. In this hour of grief, we express our deepest condolences to his family and supporters and pray for peace for the departed soul.
