New Delhi: Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday continued to demand the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, saying there had been a “Akraman on Samvidhan” (all-out attack on the Constitution) and that the Bharatiya Janata Party, Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah committed a grave mistake by insulting BR Ambedkar.

Posting these remarks on his social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram), Gandhi said, “BJP, Narendra Modi and Amit Shah have committed the biggest mistake of their lives by attacking the Constitution and insulting Baba Saheb. India will not forgive. this error. The Interior Minister should apologize and resign.

He released a montage of the multiple protests, marches and speeches organized by the Congress since HM Amit Shah’s remarks on Ambedkar.

Gandhi also highlighted a speech in his parliament, likening it to a fight between Manusmriti and the Constitution, saying one side defends the constitution.

“It is written in the Constitution, the prohibition of discrimination based on race, caste, religion and place of birth… There is a battle taking place today in India. This camp ( showing his deputies) are the defenders of the idea of ​​the Constitution”, he declared in his speech to Parliament.

Earlier, the Delhi Police had registered an FIR against Rahul Gandhi, in connection with a brawl that took place in Parliament House. Tensions flared when members of the opposition and ruling parties staged side protests. During the protests, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge claimed he was pushed and two BJP members were injured in the incident. Several Congress leaders condemned the FIR against Gandhi, calling it a diversionary tactic from Shah’s comments.

Two BJP MLAs, Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, were injured in a scuffle in Parliament yesterday. Sarangi had claimed he was injured after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi pushed another MLA, who then fell on him. Sarangi claimed he was standing near the stairs when another deputy fell on him, injuring his head.

In response, several BJP MPs demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi.

Meanwhile, the winter session of Parliament ended today. Both houses were adjourned sine die after noisy scenes.
