The ‘merciless vow’ Kennedy Agyapong made against three NPP MPs who lost their seats ahead of the 2024 elections

Former flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Kennedy Agyapong, during the 2023 NPP presidential primaries, called out several individuals in the country against whom he claimed to have bitterness for several reasons.

Kennedy said at the time that these individuals, former and current lawmakers, were people he had previously helped but abandoned during his candidacy, and some even insulted him.

He said he was bitter with lawmakers for speaking ill of him rather than for not supporting his candidacy during the primaries. He swore he would never forgive most of these MPs.

In an interview on Starr FM on October 5, 2023, Agyapong expressed his mixed feelings, saying: “I am very bitter because if I had not contested, I would not have known my enemies, these MPs, the help I gave them. I gave it to them. »

He went on to reveal that while he has forgiven some MPs for their actions, there are others he could never forgive due to their betrayal, and that he would prosecute them. Here are three lawmakers Kennedy swore he would never pardon:

Member of Parliament for Anhwiaso-Bekwai. Alfred Obeng Boateng

One of those Agyapong chose is Alfred Obeng-Boateng, MP for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai constituency in the North West region.

According to him, he campaigned for Obeng-Boateng to get his parliamentary seat, but he claims the MP turned against him during his presidential campaign.

He expressed his frustration, saying: “Last week I will never forgive any of them that I helped, but after November 4, he will see what happens. See, if you don’t ‘Don’t even go vote for me, you have the choice and I have no problem.’

“I campaigned for him in Bibiani; I’m not afraid of him, Alfred Obeng. I left his place at 1 a.m…. and for this man to tell me that I don’t know how to speak. I won’t be able to never forgive him.

“This man takes a phone and calls the delegates, telling them not to vote for Kennedy Agyapong but to vote for number two on the ballot. And then one of them asked him why, and he said that Kennedy Agyapong did not know how to speak.

Agyapong also revealed that when Obeng-Boateng faced career challenges, he offered support, including chatting late at night.

However, he was deeply hurt by the MP’s decision to campaign against him.

Meanwhile, Alfred Obeng lost his seat to Bright Asamoah Faito of the NDC in the 2024 elections, with 31,749 votes, while Bright got 33,732 votes.

Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson

Kennedy Agyapong also revealed that he will not forgive Hawa Koomson.

He said the Awutu Senya East MP and the Fisheries Minister had disrespected him in front of his wife, something he has no intention of forgiving anytime soon.

“My wife was in KT Hammond’s office when Hawa Koomson told me that if I am angry, she will show me that she is too. I will show the NPP that I am angrier than all of them” , he said in an interview. in January 2024.

He continued: “I’m going to show Hawa Koomson that I’m crazier than her. In the presence of my wife in KT Hammond’s office, this arrogant woman said that if I was crazy, she would show me that she is crazier than me Meanwhile, while she was saying all this, the pickup I gave her was parked at her house.

“For Bawumia himself, I have nothing against him. For Wontumi, we will see if he will deliver the Ashanti region. I will never forgive them. If you know the efforts I made to get figures in the Ashanti region “What wisdom does he have? If we meet soldiers and police, they say Wontumi is an empty-headed person, so they don’t want to meet him,” he added.

On the other hand, after the close of polls in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections, the returning officer of the Electoral Commission revealed that Mavis Hawa Koomson obtained 45,638 of the total valid votes cast, while Phillis Naa Koryor of NDC had won its seat in Awutu Senya East constituency with 50,886 of the total valid votes cast.

Henry Quartey, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso Central

Agyapong also accused Ayawaso Central Constituency MP Henry Quartey of insulting him by calling him a violent person.

“Sometimes I forgive my fellow MPs because if they don’t toe the line they won’t get any more opportunities, so I forgive them, but those who insult me like Henry Quartey, he goes out there and m insult by saying: “Look at your violent friend! A good friend of mine.

“Ingratitude is very hurtful,” he said.

He first accused Quartey of being involved in a land sale that led to litigation. Agyapong expressed his frustration saying, “God will take care of Henry Quartey. If he plays with me, I will expose things about him.”

Henry Quartey, the incumbent MP for Ayawaso Central Constituency, lost his seat to Abdul-Rauf Tubazu of the National Democratic Congress. According to the EC official, Henry Quartey received 23,345 votes, while Abdul-Rauf received 29,755 votes.
