The month of October was filled with picture-worthy moments in Saskatoon, from preparations for the provincial and municipal elections to Halloween festivals and the fall season.

Here’s a look at some memorable moments that Saskatoon StarPhoenix photographer Michelle Berg and Regina Leader-Post photographer Kayle Neis photographed last month, including the dates of the print editions in which they were published.

October 8: dig into the weather

On Oct. 7, city crews worked on a storm drain on Early Drive in the Brevoort Park neighborhood. They anticipated no problems carrying out the work throughout the week, with daily forecasts of sunshine and temperatures of up to 70°F ahead of the Thanksgiving long weekend. October 12: the group reforms

Pumpkins after darkCanada’s largest Halloween festival, made its Saskatoon debut at Prairieland Park on October 10. The event continued until October 31. (Michelle Berg, Saskatoon StarPhoenix)

October 15: Prepare the ballots for your vote

With the provincial election On October 28, campaign efforts really ramped up in the two weeks leading up to the vote and each up-and-coming party was doing what they could to try to get their name on the ballot. October 12 at 2 p.m. marked the end of the nomination period, resulting in the final list of candidates compiled by Elections Saskatchewan. October 17: worth the detour

On October 16, a dog owner walked two dogs along Spadina Crescent as green leaf spots became harder to find in the city. (Michelle Berg, Saskatoon StarPhoenix)

October 25: This is not their first rodeo

A team worked on transforming the SaskTel Center for PBR Canada Cup Serieswhich began on October 25. On October 24, a crew began the massive job of trucking in 680 tons of dirt and installing the arena. (Michelle Berg, Saskatoon StarPhoenix)

October 26: Record catch for breast cancer

Rob Suski and Shauna Foster co-hosted the 25th edition C95 radio marathon for breast cancer research for 12 hours on October 24 at the Lawson Heights shopping center in Saskatoon. They were joined throughout the day by guests who shared their personal stories and raised a record $516,321 for the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan to support breast cancer research in the province, including developing new standards of care and clinical trials. October 28: A crazy race

Teenage phenom John Crimber dominated the opening night of Saskatoon PBR Classic on October 25, winning the first round and the 5/5 Bucking Battle during the PBR Canada Cup Series at the SaskTel Centre. October 31: Happy Halloween

A house on Clinkskill Avenue in Saskatoon, already known for its Christmas lights, has transformed the property’s lawn into a Halloween graveyard for trick-or-treaters. (Michelle Berg, Saskatoon StarPhoenix)
