It’s time to “fall back!” » Daylight saving time ends this weekend

Summer time will end this weekend, at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2024. Most devices these days will automatically adapt to the time changebut don’t forget to set traditional clocks back one hour.

If you thought we were almost done with seasonal time changes, we can’t blame you.

There were several efforts to end the practice – at the national, regional and national levels – but none have been successful so far.

In recent years, Oregon, Washington and California have all made multiple attempts to permanently switch to Standard Time or Daylight Saving Time, without success.

Moving to year-round DST requires congressional approval — and that approval doesn’t seem likely, despite both parties’ desire for change.

Permanent standard time is within the power of Oregon to adopt it, but so far the Oregon Legislature has refused to consider the plan.

So, until one of these efforts is successful, we will continue to change the clock twice a year.
